We believe what we tell ourselves.
Change the way you think and you'll change the way you are....
You cannot lead a positive life with negative messaging in your head. There IS a reason for affirmations. While they keep the positive thoughts running through your mind, you have to believe what you are saying for it to have a positive effect.
It is always nice to receive a compliment, whether it is for something you have accomplished, or for your looks. But if you believe only the compliment and fill yourself with a different story, it doesn't help with your self esteem. You can program your mind with kind, loving thoughts to boost your self esteem and give you a feeling of well being.
To reinforce the idea: surround yourself with positive people. Do something nice for someone else. AND the big one, practice gratitude.
It feels good to be kind to yourself. We take ourselves for granted, most of the time. We forget how important our health and our bodies are, usually just complaining about fat thighs or bad hair. Compliment yourself, be kind, reinforce your importance. Make a list of all your attributes and everything you have accomplishes thus far. Take time to realize what a beautiful person you are, look in the mirror and count your blessings, you are perfect!
