Lighthouses don't go running all over the island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining. Anne Lamott

And that is ALL you have to do. There is no need to travel the world to seek people to save.

The only reason to climb the highest mountain and meditate or spend a month in an ashram is to release your own inner demons, not save the lost souls.

You have the light, the truth, inside.
You have everything necessary.
You already are all there is.
You are an important piece of the giant puzzle of life. Your mission is to be YOU and let your light shine. You are a beacon to many. Your light can show the way through the darkness.

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.

There is nothing more asked of you than to be yourself, do what you do and live your life. Give and receive love, be kind to every living thing, AND shine your light

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven." Matthew 5:16

The 3 'mistakes'

As we travel our path, we happen upon moments of enlightenment. Something resonates with our soul and the light comes on. Usually when this happens we want to share our joy; and this is when these 'mistakes' rear their heads.

1. We assume that people are rational. This depends on where they are coming from. If fear is running the show, you will find that people are not rational. If you were talking about something outside their comfort zone, the fear may be doing the talking and no one is listening.

2. You can never assume that people are eager, or even willing to entertain change of any kind. They may be more than happy to remain as they are and not risk changing the status quo. Even though you are excited about your recent download of information, it does not mean they are.

3. And finally, you assume that once you have enlightened them on your new found knowledge they will feel exactly as you do. They will choose what you have chosen. Not necessarily so. If they didn't find this information on their own, if they hadn't been seeking this knowledge in the first place, it's quite unlikely that they will just accept your point of view.

When you find what you are looking for, it's a very exhilarating and begs to be shared. You may find that no one is that interesting in your discovery, and that's OK. They are on their path and you are on yours. Everything happens at the right time, and when you are ready the teacher comes. So, continue on your path, discover new discoveries and enjoy your life; the others are doing their thing and you need to continue to do yours.

The sky isn't the limit; the mind that sees the sky is the limit.

There is no limit, you can accomplish anything you set you mind to. You have the ability to reach beyond the stars, the universe is open to you. The only limits imposed on you are self-imposed.

You may think that you are locked in by dogma, creeds, ideals, principles, laws etc. and if you feel you are, then you are. It is as simple as that.

You are what you think you are and the only one that can change your way of thinking is you. If you feel comfortable accepting your belief system, then that is what you must do.

If not, you have choices. The journey usually starts with curiosity, you start to wonder about conflicting ideas, start your research, and begin to open up.

“Religion is belief in someone else's experience. Spirituality is having your own experience." Deepak Chopra

You have infinite wisdom to draw from, if you are so inclined. The choice is yours, always has been, always will be. With your beliefs in tact, you could simply open your mind to possibilities, and you may find something worth investigating further.

"Nothing outside of you can ever give you what you are looking for." Byron Katie

The sky isn't the limit; the mind that sees the sky is the limit....

I stopped explaining myself when I realized people only understand from their level of perception.

True. I find it is the same with most subjects, unless you hit upon a subject that the person you are with is passionate about, it doesn't take long for their eyes to glaze over. Idle chit chat seems to be acceptable, preferably short chit chat, at that. The long intimate discussions are saved only for the closest of friends, or maybe family, that are obligated to listen, at least for a little while.

Everyone sees things in their own way, derived from their life experiences. You may feel that you have the answer to life, but people only hear what they want to, or are ready to hear. So, something of great importance to you, may come across as trivial nonsense.

Don't worry if their level of perception isn't at the same level as yours. The fact is, it is only your perception, and although it may be truth to you, it is your understanding, not theirs. So explaining yourself to anyone, really, is a waste of time. It is perceived as a demand to understand your way of thinking and they may have no interest in that. No one likes to be told what to do or how to think.

You have your ideas, and you can do what you will with them, but you don't need to feel obliged to justify yourself to anyone. You don't need any validation; it is your life and you will live it to the best of your ability. No one really understands anyone else anyhow, and you are ahead of the game if you understand yourself.

"There are some people who could hear you speak a thousand words and still not understand you. And there are others who will understand without you speaking a word."  Unknown

You have a purpose for being on this Earth, that is far more important than anything you have ever dared to imagine....
You can change the world.

You WILL change the world, at the very least, your world and the world of those that cross your path. There will be change due to your presence, your journey will inspire others,  as will your example. You don't have to be a rock star, or find a cure for cancer, to affect people. It is a snowball effect, you change a life and that person pays it forward. Therefore, the entire world will be affected.

"The world is changed by your example, not your opinion" Kahil Gibran

I am not saying that you will make a complete turnaround for each person within 3 feet of you, it is more random and yet, more complex than that, but each person that you are meant to touch, you will.

You are here to do what you do, and that alone is enough. You are important and unique, with a purpose. You may not know what your purpose is today, but you are working on it, nonetheless. You are exactly where you need to be, doing exactly what you need to do.

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." Mahatma Gandhi

We are all connected, we play off each other, what happens to me, happens to, benefits or affects you and vice versa.

"Make someone happy, make just one someone happy, and you will be happy too." Jimmy Durante

"When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others." Anne Frank

  • When you finally come around to living in the NOW and accepting what IS .
  • When you decide that you are who you are and love yourself regardless.
  • When you KNOW that you will be OK no matter what life hands you.
  • When you are able to welcome change and remain balanced.
  • When you realize that life is a journey and everyone is following their own path.
  • AND you are well aware that you are never alone.
This is peace.

The calmness enveloping you now is the peace within. You are able to handle any situation with a new found serenity and gratitude.

It follows that when you feel this way, it carries through to all your encounters and relationships. You are kind and compassionate to all living things. You have no desire to engage in any negativity. Your life is a positive example to everyone you see.  This is a wonderful place to be, don't you think?

"Peace comes from within. Do not seek without."

Buddha

I know this transformation is painful, but you're not falling apart; you're just falling into something different, with a new capacity to be beautiful....

Change is inevitable... and usually hard. It feels like you are being pulled into the middle of something that you are not necessarily ready or willing to be in.

We get comfortable in our comfort zone and often have no desire to change. But some circumstances are beyond your control, and no amount of kicking and screaming will stop change from happening. So, alter your attitude, and make it easier on yourself by practicing acceptance. You, alone, are in charge of your life, and there is no point in fighting change; it will get you no where. Accept, adjust, adapt.. this is how things are in this reality, it is a new beginning.

“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”  Leo Tolstoy

And then there is the flip side.... you want change. You have tried everything to improve your situation and you keep hitting a brick wall. Nothing is working, nothing changes, and you run into the wall again. "Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change." Wayne Dyer. You are continuing to bang your head against the wall and getting nowhere, try a new approach.

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves." Viktor E. Frankl

As you can see, when change happens YOU need to adjust your attitude. AND when you want things to change, YOU need to change your thinking. Common denominator.... YOU and CHANGE....it's up to you. Change the way you look at things, the way you react to change, and accept the here and now.
